These socks celebrate Wilson Bentley (1865 – 1931), the eccentric photographer who dedicated his life to snowflakes.
Considered an outsider by many, Bentley obsessed over these “tiny miracles of beauty”.
Having cobbled together microscopes and cameras, he transported snowflakes on turkey feathers and took over 5,000 photographs of these “ice flowers”.
Eventually, Bentley concluded that no two snowflakes are the same and published academic articles detailing his findings.
Bentley’s determination and creativity led him to achieve both artistic and scientific masterpieces.
